A dry van trailer is a semi-trailer that is completely enclosed on all sides. This protects what it’s hauling from outside elements. However, unlike reefer trailers, dry van trailers are not typically temperature controlled. Some common types of cargo hauled by a dry van trailer are non-perishable foods and beverages, household goods, clothing items, plastic, building materials and more.
Dry van trailer heights vary based on the dimensions and provider, but a common average dry van trailer height (from the ground to the top) is roughly 13 to 14 feet tall.
Like with the previous question, dry van trailer weights vary based on the size of the trailer and the materials used to construct it. For example, a 53-foot dry trailer has an average weight ranging from 13,000 to 15,000 lbs.
Like with the previous questions, dry van trailer width varies. But average trailer widths range from 8 to 9 feet.
New dry van trailers can cost anywhere from $40,000 to $80,000 depending on the bells and whistles you get with it. Used dry van trailers can cost as low as $10,000 or less depending on the year and condition of the trailer.
