On July 11, the Business Council of Manitoba launched a pilot program called Youth CEO in partnership with the Winnipeg Aboriginal Sport Achievement Centre and the Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development. Eighteen high school graduates, who have been youth leaders, were selected and assigned to work with one of the 13 Manitoba companies- that included Maxim Truck & Trailer - where they’ll receive training and work experience throughout the summer. Maxim hosted Kibet.
“I worked at the Kids Camp at WASAC last year, and this year when I was told about the Youth CEO program I was really excited to get involved. I’m going into grade 11 this year and am planning on pursuing electrical engineering after I graduate. This program is a cool way for me to see how some businesses run and figure out how my future career might fit in. I really liked the environment at Maxim, everyone was pretty laid back. I got to see lots of different components of the company, but my favorite part might have been driving the forklift!”
